EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
I attained my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in philosophy from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2012. I was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar in 2010 during my education at the University of New Mexico. Then I went on to graduate with a Master of Arts degree in counseling from New Mexico Highlands University in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
I worked as a Licensed Substance Abuse Associate at the Counseling & Psychotherapy Institute through the years of 2011 to 2014 in Albuquerque, NM, as well as provided services at Lifestyle Recovery Inc from 2012 to 2013. I have worked at A New Awakening Rio Rancho since 2013 and became the Owner of Recycled Man LLC (DBA A New Awakening Rio Rancho) in 2015.
why i am a counselor
I decided to become a counselor in 2008 to better serve those who are returning to society. I also became a counselor to give back to the community that I once took from. I have found that recovery is possible no matter the circumstances. I hope to work and walk with individuals on their path of recovery. I enjoy the freedom I find in working with people.
I plan to continue to obtaining certifications that will aid me in serving my community as best I can. Another major goal of mine is to change the hiring practices and time off offered to those of us that work directly with the community. This is already happening in both facilities. I would also like to see improvement in the communication and delivery of mental health services in our state.
